This walkthrough helps you to install Zap Business Intelligence. Some of you may need help knowing where to download the files. This is where I can help you.
Firstly, go to www.zapbi.com
Go to the download section and download the installation file.
Setup the connection details:
Setup IIS configuration:
Complete setup and launch Zap BI
Note that you can run Zap Business Intelligence using the defined URL or just the localhost with port 8110 which is the standard port.
If it is your first connection, Zap BI will ask for connection to the Zap Cube that was setup by CubeXpress.
If you use Application pool service account, it will use the network service account which may not have the right permissions to access the cube. Therefore it is recommended to use a specific account to log in.
Uncheck “Run query as logged in user” if the current logged in user does not have enough permissions to query the cube.
Click on Connect to test the connection.
Next, Start a new Analysis Report to start creating your reports.
How do you know if Zap BI is not installed?
1. Running the default URL does not work.
If you are in the host machine, typing in http://localhost:8110 does not work. Or if you are from a remote machine, typing in the machine host name does not work. i.e. http://AX2012R2A.contoso.com:8110 does not work.
2. ZapBI database is missing.
During installation, the ZapBI database is created. If this is not there, Zap BI will not work.
Hopefully this will help you get started with Zap.
